Kimball Physics is a high-tech manufacturer of scientific instruments with over 50 years of experience in ultra-high-vacuum electron and ion optics. The company specializes in high stability electron emitters, precision electrostatic and magnetostatic optics, along with state-of-the-art vacuum chambers and fittings. Electron and ion systems are optimized for beam energies ranging from 1 eV to 100 keV and beam currents from femtoamperes to amperes.

Kimball Physics is an MIT spinoff located in a half dozen buildings situated near the top of a wooded hill in southern New Hampshire. As a company run by physicists, Kimball Physics is ready to assist customers in solving practical, technical, and basic research problems.

Assembly Associate – Micro Manufacturing

Kimball Physics is currently seeking a fulltime Assembly Associate to join our micro assembly team. This person will be responsible for assembling systems and sub-assemblies to precise specifications. This is a will train job requiring basic skills. The applicant should have the ability to prioritize and work independently once trained.

This position includes significant duties such as:
  • Preparation of intricate components under a microscope and use of small tools
  • Assembly of components per routers, drawings, and written procedures
  • Alignment of systems to meet specifications; Alignment of assemblies and in-process testing
  • Processing and final testing of assemblies; preparation of assemblies for shipment with supervision or involvement of other Assembly Specialists
  • Accuracy of assembly is extremely critical because failure to follow proper technique may not be immediately apparent
  • Problem solving with supervision
  • Good organizational skills an ability to be flexible with changing work demands
  • Attention to detail and quality is a must
  • Ability to follow SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedure)
  • Must be self-directed and able to work unsupervised
  • May be required to help in other departments depending on workload
Working Conditions:
  • Sitting 80% of shift
  • 1st shift, with flexible hours
