Kimball Physics Mission:

Kimball Physics is a high-tech manufacturer of scientific instruments, with over 30 years of experience in ultra-high-vacuum electron and ion optics. The company specializes in high stability electron emitters, precision electrostatic and magnetostatic optics, along with state-of-the-art vacuum chambers and fittings. Electron and ion systems are optimized for beam energies ranging from 1 eV to 100 keV with beam currents from femtoamperes to hundreds of milliamperes. An MIT spinoff, the company is in a half dozen buildings, situated near the top of a hill, surrounded by woods, in southern New Hampshire.
Kimball Physics is a company run by physicists, ready to assist customers in solving practical, technical, and basic research problems. A staff of outside consultants augments in-house expertise. Collaboration with scientists developing new technologies is strongly encouraged.
The company maintains facilities for: R & D, particle optics design, mechanical cad design, electronics engineering, vacuum engineering, UHV testing, precision mechanical fabrication, exceptional welding techniques, and electronics manufacturing. Unusual capabilities exist in micromanufacturing. Some applications include: numerous UHV analytical instruments, electron optical equipment for the semiconductor industry, electron sources for electron microscopes and electron lithography, high brightness sources for free electron lasers, accelerators, and x-ray systems, custom apparatus for the space industry, and equipment for various esoteric physics experiments.
Many standard electron and ion sources, guns, power supplies, and components are offered in this website. Many others are not. About one-fifth of the items manufactured are custom, with only a fraction of these eventually produced as standard catalog items. Thus if you do not see what you need, please contact engineering. An on-line custom design request form has been included in this website. Filling out this form encourages most of the important design parameters to be addressed.
